O Love that wilt not let me go,
I rest my weary soul in Thee;
I give Thee back the life I owe,
That in Thine ocean depths its flow
May richer, fuller be.
O Light that followest all my way,
I yield my flickering torch to Thee;
My heart restores its borrowed ray,
That in Thy sunshine’s blaze its day
May brighter, fairer be.
O Joy that seekest me through pain,
I cannot close my heart to thee;
I trace the rainbow through the rain,
And feel the promise not vain,
That morn shall tearless be.
O Cross that liftest up my head,
I dare not ask to fly from thee;
I lay in dust life’s glory dead,
And from the ground there blossoms red
Life that shall endless be.

This is probably my favorite hymn….Well, probably not because as soon as I typed that about 3 more of “my favorite” hymns popped in my head. Dangit! I can never have favorite stuff because I like so many things a lot! BUT, I have recited this hymn many times as a prayer, and it helped me through one devil of a 6-months once. So, I have decided to create “Hymn of the Week”. For a few reasons:
1.To get my sorry butt to blog at least once a week
2.To bless your precious little hearts
3.To remember the days when theologians wrote love poems
i love hymns. a lot.
i pray we never forget to go back to them (we being modern christians). new songs are a blessing from God, yes, and i think it is one of the coolest most enjoyable things in my life to hear someone’s fresh-out-the-box song. i also know that my heart melts within me like it’s nobody’s business when i reflect on the words and thoughts behind a well-written hymn from an age past. there are some real winners out there.
my favorite of all time will probably always be “come ye sinners, poor and needy” by joseph hart… i posted it some time ago on my blog as an entry; it makes me weep…
“all the fitness he requireth is to feel your need for him…”
my head SO needs to wrap around that soon.
so what happened to your hymn of the week?????? come back!
so is this “hymn of the week” turning into the “hymn of the year”? Because you haven’t posted anything since April. I remember April, it was a long time ago. I even took you off my blog roll because of lack of postage. Oh well I love you!!
lol, Zack, that’s a little harsh…
Yes, Hymns are awesome… I can never get off of “All Creatures or Our God and King”, it just sings like that.
I’m thinking the torturous six months was FITN… but you never know.
Um so I really wish you blogged!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! resurrect it sister!!
Blog again!
Dude, the 27th has come and passed….and where is your promised blog entry, huh?
Girl, you should keep blogging!
